PRAYER

This is a very vital study, though most Christian who prepare for the ministry neglect it and lack the most powerful weapon the world ever knew.  Effective praying, asking and receiving from God, is not taught in some Bible Schools and Churches.  Some even think it cannot be taught and so keep their hearers in costly ignorance.  The Bible teaches much on it by its precepts, promises, prayers and practices.

1. WHAT IS PRAYER?

The soul’s desire for God – (Psalms 42:1,2; 63:1-3; 84:2; 143:6-9), a cry, a supplication (Exodus 22:23, Psalm 34:15,17; 86:3; Psalm 88:1,2,9,13; Isaiah 19:20)an instinct that must have utterance (Isaiah 44:17; 45:20; Luke 18:7,13); an appeal from the child to the Father (Hosea 14:3; Matthew 6:6; Luke 11:2).

It is described as: beseeching the Lord (Exodus 32:11), calling on the Lord (Acts 7:59; Romans 10:12-14), lifting up the heart (Lamentations 3:41), pouring out the heart (Lamentations 3:41) pouring out the heart (Psalm 62:8; I Samuel 1:25), seeking the face of the Lord (Psalm 27:8).
