Sunday Message Life in Christ Bible Church LICBC Headquarters, 154 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. Sierra Madre, CA 91024, USA http://www.licbc.org ********************************************************************************************** 1. PERSONAL WITNESSING – EVANGELISM Ezekiel 3:17-21; Daniel 12:3; Matthew 9:36-38; John 4:35-38 The Greek word “evangellion” (Gospel) actually means Good News. It is good news from a loving God to a lost world (John 3:16,17). The Gospel is God’s message to man. God loves all – the whole world, all sinners – John 3:14-17; Romans 5:6-11; I John 4:8-10; 2 Peter 3:9. God makes adequate provision for the forgiveness of our sins – Romans 5:20; I John 1:8,9; Psalm 103:3,4; Acts 13:38,39. God’s provision is Christ ‘s atonement makes us new – 2 Corinthians 5:17; Isaiah I:18; Romans 8:1-4; I John 3:8,9; Romans 1:16. I. THE GREAT COMMISSION IS BINDING ON ALL AND EVERY CHRISTIAN A. THIS IS THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST – Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts 1:4,5,8; 8:1-4. Beware of any friend or preacher who talks or teaches against the personal Responsibility of every Christian in Personal Evangelism. See Romans 16:17; I Timothy 6:3-5; 2 John 10; Proverbs 19:27; Matthew 5:29,30; I Corinthians 9:16. Jesus said – John 14:14; Matthew 10:37-39 B. IN THE GREAT COMMISSION THERE IS a. no geographical limitations “….into all the world…” Mark 16:15. b. No racial restriction or prejudice “…gospel must be published among all nations” – Mark 13:10; Acts 1:8. c. No class distinction “…to every creature” – Mark 16:15 CAUTION! TAKE CARE! Acts 1:8 does not say ‘first in Jerusalem and then in Judea,’ but “BOTH in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. The preaching of the Gospel is not charity but a debt – Romans 1:14. II. ESSENTIALS OF EVANGELISM Conversion Conviction Commission Compassion. 1. The soul winner must first experience and show forth thorough CONVERSION – Isaiah 52:11; 2 Timothy 2:6,7,19-21; 3:5. An unconverted soul winner (a so-called Christian who has no definite testimony of being born-again) is like a blind man trying to explain the beauty of colours! How can you proclaim a Saviour Whom you have never met? 2. The true soul winner must have a strong, unshakable CONVICTION – John 9:4; Luke 5:9-11; Acts 26:22-24; 21:8-14; I Corinthians 9:16. A soul winner of CONVICTION devotes all his time, talents, strength and money to the furtherance or spread of the GOSPEL. What is your CONVICTION about God and the Bible, about Salvation, about the after-life, about Christ, His death, His resurrection, His second coming? 3. The real soul winner has received the COMMISSION – Mark 16:15; John 15:16; 20:21. At the call. He is the one who has received the RESPONSIBILITY. He I= is not a preacher because the Public Service Commission cannot find him a job, he has received Christ’s Commission! 4. COMPASSION! Have it and succeed, neglect it and fail! – Matthew 9:36; Romans 9:1-3; 10:1; Revelation 3:14-19. A deep, burning, Christ-like COMPASSION compels a true Christian to Sacrifice all that is necessary for the salvation of others. The measurer of your compassion will be the sacrifices you make, the effectual fervent prayers you offer, the long tireless journeys you make, the tear you shed, the earnest speeches and invitation to Christ you give, the hardship you endure for the souls of men. Survey the wondrous Cross on which the Prince of Glory died! And no price will seem too high to pay; no sacrifice too great to make; and no problem too big to encounter for the salvation of the lost.
