WISDOM IN SOULWINNING John 1:5-8; 3:13-17; Luke 16:8; Proverbs 2:1-11; Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 1. WISDOM Wisdom is an indispensable tool in soulwinning. The soulwinner must be wise in his presentation of the gospel message. When all else fail, try wisdom. 1. WHAT IS WISDOM? Wisdom is the ability to choose the most effective means to accomplish a given purpose – the ability to use the best possible means to secure a desired result. 2. IMPORTANCE OF WISDOM IN WINNING SOULS – Genesis 3:1-6; I Samuel 25:14-33; I Kings 4:29-34; 10:1-10; John 1:43-51; John 4:11-30 Ecclesiastes 9:13-18. Many souls have escaped our grip because of our lack of wisdom. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom” – Proverbs 4:7 3. THREE KINDS OF WISDOM a. Wisdom of Satan – Ezekiel 28:12-17; James 3:14-16; 2 Corinthians 11 :3: Genesis 3:1-6; I Kings 12:26-30 Matthew 4:1-11 The devil always uses the most effective means to accomplish his purpose. b. Natural wisdom – Luke 14:28-32; Ecclesiastes 9:13-18; 10:10. Natural wisdom helps people in every day life situations to take advantage of the laws governing human nature. c. “Wisdom from above” – James 3:17. a. Wisdom obtained from God’s Word – 2 Timothy 3:15; I Corinthians 2:6-13. ii. Wisdom obtained by grace through faith – James 1:5,6,17; 3:13,17; I Kings 3:5-12; 4:29-34; Ephesians 1:17. iii. Gift of the “Word of Wisdom” – I Corinthians 12:7,8; Acts 6:9,10 15; Exodus 31:1-4; Deuteronomy 34:9. The wisdom God gave Solomon endowed him with a special ability to deal with difficult human problems. His methods and writings reveal a penetrating understanding of human motivation. Also, it was the amazing, supernatural wisdom, which Jesus had that made His methods and work perfect in every detail. Knowledge alone is not sufficient; it is only the raw material, and one must have wisdom to know how to use it – Luke 7:19-23; Matthew 22:15-22; John 4:11-30 II. HOW TO OBTAIN DIVINE WISDOM 1. FIRST, BE COMPLETELY HUMBLE – Proverbs 3:5,7; Psalm 25:9; James 4:6 2. SECOND, SEEK DIVINE WISDOM IN GOD’S WORD – Proverbs 2:1-10; 4:5-13; 2 Timothy 3:15. The whole Bible was received through Divine wisdom, revelation and inspiration. It makes the foolish wise. To be truly wise in soul winning, study the Scriptures earnestly and frequently. III. HOW TO COMMUNICATE THE GOSPEL MESSAGE 1. THE MESSAGE; There are two basic things to be presented: a. The plan of salvation in such a simple way that the sinner will understand. b. A message that will challenge, inspire and motivate the sinner to repent and begin to live the Christian life. 2. THE METHOD; The way we present the message must make sense to the sinner. If we are too intellectual or theological it goes above his heads.
